Rice does nothing. Genuinely nothing.
Rice does not draw liquid out from under components, and it does nothing whatsoever about corrosion — which is the thing actually destroying your device. All it does is delay the cleaning that would have helped, while the damage carries on underneath.
If you've spilled something: don't turn it on, don't plug it in to charge, and don't leave it in a bag of anything. Bring it down. Today rather than next week, and next week rather than never.

What people ask
It still works. Do I really need anything done?
Yes, and this is the assumption that costs people their device. Corrosion is eating traces right now, quietly. Cleaning it this week is dramatically cheaper than the board repair you will otherwise be paying for next month.
How much will it cost?
It has to be diagnosed first — nobody can tell you what corrosion has reached without opening it, and a shop that quotes you a number over the phone is guessing. The diagnostic is $45 in store, and it comes off the price of the repair if you go ahead.
How long does it take?
Longer than most repairs. Liquid damage is a complex fault rather than a part swap, so it is usually one to three days — the cleaning and the tracing both take time, and rushing either is how devices get written off.
Can you get my photos off if it can't be saved?
Very often, yes — and if the photos are what actually matter, say so when you drop it off. It changes how we approach the board from the first step.
It went in salt water.
Then it is more urgent, not less. Salt is far more aggressive than clean water and the damage moves faster. Don't power it on, and bring it straight down.
