- Look in the port and clean it out — that alone is the fix more often than not.
- Test the charging circuit so we're not replacing a healthy connector.
- If the port has genuinely worn, it comes off and a new one goes on under the microscope.
- Charge it on a cable and a wireless pad before we call you.

That's the port or its data lines — wireless skips the connector entirely. Generally good news for a clean repair.
Could a cheap cable have caused it?
It contributes. Poor cables wear the contacts faster and at worst push voltage the port wasn't built for.
