iPad won't turn on

A dead iPad is a board fault — a shorted rail, a failed power chip, or corrosion from a spill. Apple's answer is to give you a different iPad.

Keeps your device and your dataComponent-level repair Most repairs same day 90-day parts-and-labour warranty

That's the part worth thinking about. A replacement unit is a different device, and everything on yours becomes your problem. A board repair keeps the iPad you already have, with everything still on it.

Why it matters here

Replacement isn't the same as repair

With phones people mostly have a backup. With iPads, in our experience, they often don't — it's the device the kids draw on, or the one with three years of notes and nobody ever set iCloud up properly.

That's why we'd rather repair the board than see you swap the unit. If the data is the point, say so at drop-off and we'll approach the whole job that way.

What yours does

Any of these?

  • Completely dead — no logo, no response to a charger
  • Stuck looping on the Apple logo
  • Gets warm on the charger but never starts
  • Died after a drop or a spill
Honest answers

The real questions

It got wet weeks ago and worked fine until now.

Almost certainly connected. Corrosion keeps spreading long after a device seems dry, and failing weeks later is the usual pattern rather than bad luck.

What if it can't be repaired?

The diagnostic is $45 and comes off the repair if you go ahead. Even where a board can't be saved we can very often still recover what's on it, and you'll get a straight answer rather than an open-ended bill.

What it costs to find out

The honest bit about pricing

Most repairs have a price you can get online in seconds. This one doesn't, because nobody can tell you what a dead board needs without opening it — and a shop that quotes you a number over the phone is guessing.

So the diagnostic is $45, and it comes off the price of the repair if you approve it. If you decide not to go ahead, you've paid $45 for a real answer about your device instead of a guess.

Timing: most repairs leave the same day, port work included. Faults like this one are the exception — they have to be traced before they can be quoted, so it is usually one to three days.

Been near liquid at any point? Say so — it changes where we look first, and water-damage repair explains what that job involves.
