A lot of people come in wanting the phone fixed, when what they actually need is what's on it — the pictures, the messages, the numbers. Those are two different jobs, and knowing which one you're asking for changes how we approach the board from the very first step.
So say it out loud when you drop it off. It costs you nothing to tell us, and it can change the outcome.

Almost certainly. Liquid leaves corrosion that keeps eating traces long after the phone seems dry. Dying weeks later is the classic pattern, not a coincidence.
Why did another shop refuse it?
Because it needs a microscope, a soldering and hot-air station, board schematics and someone who can read them. Most shops are set up for part swaps, so a board fault gets turned away.
What if you can't save it?
The diagnostic is $45, credited to the repair if you go ahead. Even if the board can't be saved we can usually still get your data off it, and we'll tell you what's realistic rather than running up a bill.

The honest bit about pricing
Most repairs have a price you can get online in seconds. This one doesn't, because nobody can tell you what a dead board needs without opening it — and a shop that quotes you a number over the phone is guessing.
So the diagnostic is $45, and it comes off the price of the repair if you approve it. If you decide not to go ahead, you've paid $45 for a real answer about your device instead of a guess.
Timing: most repairs leave the same day, port work included. Faults like this one are the exception — they have to be traced before they can be quoted, so it is usually one to three days.
