Quite often it's the dock — which is the cheapest outcome, and we'd rather find that than sell you a repair.
How we narrow it down
Testing, in order
- Try your dock with a known-good console, and your console with a known-good dock.
- Check the console's USB-C port and its video lines.
- Repair whichever of the three actually failed.
- Confirm stable output on a TV before it goes back to you.

Is it the dock or the Switch?
That's exactly what we separate, and it's why we don't quote before testing. Sending you off with a new dock that doesn't fix it helps nobody.
It charges in the dock but there's no picture.
